The Annual General Meeting 2011
The annual general meeting for the year was held on 16th December, 2011 at around 5:30pm in Bhutan Suites. His Eminence Khamtrul Rinpoche, thanked all who were present for making time to come for the meeting and also present during the meeting was His Eminence Thuksey Rinpoche.
Before the actual reporting of the progress by different sectors, H.E Khamtrul Rinpoche explained on what should be the motivation while we do any volunteering activities. His Eminence said that the volunteers must dedicate all their activities to serve the Buddha Dharma through various means such as helping for the ADC event, organizing pilgrimages, doing Live to Love activities, distribution of books to various schools, etc. His Eminence said that having a selfless attitude, meaning serving others without the intention of any self interest, having a good direction, that is setting a focus in your life and living in harmony with whom one is connected should be one's main purpose in volunteering.![]()
After His Eminence’s speech, various section heads presented their annual activities, report and the plan for the year ahead.
Restructuring of the group was done with appointment of Mr. Phuntsho Dorji as the new overall Coordinator.
Some of the points that were discussed during the meeting are as follows:
- It was agreed that the members will make annual contrubution for the welfare of the volunteers.
2. The venue for the next year’s Ney Khor to be in Bumthang Dzongkhag and Mr. Norbu Wandgi to explore the possibilities of involving the locals to arrange food and lodge during the period in order to promote the local economy.
3. Reading Club to be initiated soon for the group in order to enhance our knowledge and wisdom on Buddhist Philosophy and gain more insights into Buddhism.
4. Kabesa monks to perform Jangwa Practice (Prayers for Deceased) monthly as a service to the community and families of Geykuel Drukdra.
The Annual General Meeting concluded with a dinner hosted by H.E Khamtrul Rinpoche and H.E also wished all volunteers a very Happy and a fruitful New Year.
